Drought Stress

Drought Stress is lawn damage that results from dry weather conditions.

Why is this a problem? Drought conditions causes wilting and darkening in color. Dry weather makes insects more suseptible to cause significant feeding damage. Not only will your grass decline, weeds, such as creeping jenny and thistle, also thrive in drought conditions and can overtake your lawn.

Recommendations: Water once or twice a week to supply one inch water each week. Adjust your watering procedures according to the time of year. Note that during summer, you need to increase the amount of water due to higher temperatures. Also, pay attention to sloped areas and driveway edges as these may require more water.
